noneIt will help to have read the description of the game before looking at these, as I will refer to segments of the game that are explained there.

Writer

The "Writer" position is the person that really runs the game. He (or she) writes the Alpha runs, puts together the conspiracies, and generally is the person in charge.

I (Ford) will help the writer with this job, and the writer will answer to Ford, but will generally run stuff on his(or her) own.

We expect the job to take about 20 hours to set up, and about 4 hours a week, and maybe another block when a Theta run is coming up.

If you apply for this position, be prepared to be self-motivated and proactive. I will expect the Alpha and Beta portion of the game to have new stuff going all the time....puzzles and hunts that take some time to resolve and figure out. A lot of this game can be social in nature, with meetings and standard safehouses that we use over and over, so this should be fun for everyone involved.

Being the writer takes a devious mind and a wide knowledge of varied backgrounds. I'm looking forward to meeting the applicants for this position.
Assistant Writer

2
This position is as the assistant to the Writer as above. Everything there applies here. The assistant stands in when the Writer is unable to do the job for whatever reason. The assistant should be geographically close to the Writer so they can meet to work on plot lines and ideas. My experiences suggest that getting together with like minded folks to work on stuff like this geometrically improves the output.
Electronics

The Electronics position is the guy who helps me make the props and devices we need for the game. Some basic understanding of electronics theory and assembly is required for this, and familiarity with microprocessors is strongly desired.

Electronics will be encouraged to suggest new devices and solutions, and will have input into any part of the game he wishes, such as plot. We might call on him to stand in for an Alpha run contact occasionally, too, as well as NPC Theta runs now and then, just to keep in contact with the game.

The Electronics position does not get a share of the event profit. The long term prospects of this position includes a share of the controlling company if the position works out. This would be non-voting shares of the Corporation, and a commensurate percentage of that income. See below how income works on this whole thing

All expenses for the devices will be paid by me.
Staff
5
1 each
Staff people are the ones who make everything happen. They will have input into the plot, be the Alpha contacts, be the NPCs in Theta runs. Proximity to the area the events are being run in a a solid plus. Note that the Staff is considered Jacks of all Trades...they can have input into plot, suggest devices and directions for the game, play parts that lead the game in specific directions, many times having to improvise answers that were not covered in the pre-run briefing, as well as being good with the game skills such as shooting and demolitions. The Staff is the heart of the game.
Pay Information:
We will begin with ten shares issued for this game. A Staff member gets one share, the Writer gets three, and the assistant Writer gets two.

Money coming in for a Theta run will pay the bills first. Any money left over after the bills are paid will be divided into ten shares, and the shares distributed according to the above schedule. The staff will determine any changes in this schedule as time goes by.

It is expected that there will be little income provided by this scheme when we first open. Projections indicate that when we start filling up the runs, we can make a profit of perhaps a thousand dollars, making each share worth a hundred dollars. We expect to run about one Theta run a month for a while. It is possible that we may try and run more if we have the demand and desire. I must stress that there is no guarantee of this sort of return. If we lose money, that comes out of my pocket.

Here's how the money flow works:

The Cell (the local game) charges players money to go through Theta runs. This money should be enough to cover expenses in the worst possible circumstances. If the circumstances are better than ‘worst’, the run will make money. A given run can generally expect to make from a few hundred dollars to a thousand. In other words, probably not enough to live on, but enough to make it worthwhile. We are trying to keep the prices down on this to make it accessible to a large number of people.

If you are wondering where the Corporation makes money in this, the answer is obvious: we make it from the on-line registration of the players in all the games. The membership fees go to cover the expenses of helping new cells to start, to keeping track of cell developments across the country, to providing “treasure” (information, etc.) for cells to give out, and to covering national plot maintenance costs. Eventually we plan to run national events with full-on progressive Theta runs, building toward resolving a national plot line across the course of a weekend. The players who participate in these events will have a chance to become legendary in the history of the game, and it should be enormous fun.

It will be some time before we make money on this at any level above the local cell. But the potential is enormous, and we believe that the folks that start us down the road as our first staff members have the potential of doing very well with this game indeed.

To lay our cards on the table, we will be encouraging and supporting players starting cells and getting new players because it benefits us and the national game when they do so. So, to that end, we make it as easy as possible to start a cell, though we do go to some pains to make sure that the local cells are meeting a minimum standard of quality.
