Tamal Khafre Meredith was born on December 26, 1978 in Boston, Massachusetts to Wanda J. Meredith and Gerome Bailey.

Tamal attended Boston Public Schools earning a double promotion and a Science Achievement Award

He was baptized at the age of six by Rev. Owen C. Cardwell, Jr. at the Concord Baptist Church of Boston, Massachusetts. Tamal attended Sunday School and sang in the Children for Christ Choir.

Tamal's goal was to attend Johnson Wales University, majoring in Culinary Arts. His dream was to open his own "family-run" restaurant. This dream was more realistic to him when he travelled to the Progressive National Baptist Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina when his family stayed at an African American owned hotel which featured a popular family restaurant. He spent quite a bit of time talking to the owners, learning how they became successful.

Tamal went home to be with his Holy Father on Tuesday, March 31, 1998.
